Banks

You will find many banks in tourist resorts. The most popular and main banks are The Bank of Cyprus, Alpha Bank and the Hellenic Bank

Most of the banks are open from 08.30 until 12.30. Some banks do open in the afternoon, especially if they are in the centre of a tourist resort. It is advised to check with the banks beforehand.

Exchange rates do vary from bank to bank, and taking your passport is essential when exchanging money. There are cash machines outside of the bank that are open 24hrs a day. These depensers accept Eurocard, Access, Visa and Cirrus cards. As in England, a PIN number is required.

Chemists

Most chemists are situated along the main road of the resort. They can be identified by a green cross. There is always an emergency chemist open, which is advertised on the front doors of the chemists or in the local newspapers.

The staff in the chemists all speak very good English and can provide help and advise as well dispense the drugs. As in England, you can by certain drugs over the shelf, as well as perscribed drugs from clinics or doctors.

They are open generally from 08.00 - 13.00 hrs. And then from 15.00 to 20.00 hrs.
